WebQuest
Your fitness challenge- bike across South America!
Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion
We are focusing the fitness challenge on four countries in South America- Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Those of you who accept this challenge will ride your bike across one of these countries, learning about major cities as you go. As you travel, you will keep a journal, telling about the sights and sounds you've experienced. These travel journals will benefit future bikers, so please, record what you see and do carefully and descriptively.
PART ONE: RESEARCH Before you go, do some research in order to choose the three cities within your country that you would like to visit. What is there to see and do in each one? Focus on at least two places or sights in each city that you will visit, and find out as much information as possible about each. Use the websites below, as well as other non-Web sources, like books, magazines, travel agent interviews, videos, etc. to find out your information. Remember to plan which city you'll visit first, and what route makes the most sense as you bike.
PART TWO: THE TRAVEL JOURNAL Because you will be writing as you travel, your handwritten journal will understandably be a sloppy copy. The final journal that will become part of our collection needs to be done in a wordprocessing document, and should include a map of the country you traveled, as well as at least one relevant graphic or picture per city (so at least three). You should also take care to note the route you took, including how many miles you biked.
Remember to click on links within these sites too- there is a lot of valuable information tied to each of these pages. General informational sites have been provided- it is up to you to choose and research three major cities within the country you’ve chosen. Use the tips provided and don’t forget to check the VALIDITY of the sites you view! Also, don't forget that you'll need non-Web sources as well, so don't forget a trip to the library- maybe through the Columbus Metropolitan Library's website: http://www.cml.lib.oh.us/ !
Because your travel journal will be used by future bikers, the following standards have been set for your final product. Look at this guiding rubric carefully BEFORE you start your final copy, WHILE you complete your word processing document, and AFTERWARDS while you edit your work.
